Local arts and crafts offer plenty of opportunities to shop for hidden treasures. The Shop Howard is a great place to pick up a professional photograph, while the Bon Ton is the tourist's choice for purchasing fabrics. If you want something unique, the Moon Shop sells terrariums in glass jars.
Take a journey to explore some of the city's famous street art near Armenian Street, where you can follow your trusty map to discover murals of anything from a small boy and his pet Tyrannosaurus to cat themed graffiti. You'll find 3D props intertwined in the street art such as bicycles and swings, designed to reflect the life of everyday locals.
You haven't truly experienced George Town until you've had your fill of local cuisine. The China House offers a smorgasbord of taste, from breakfast through to cocktail hour in addition to live music and a boutique shop. Kebaya is a great choice for traditional food, and the New Lane Hawker Stalls are perfect for the more adventurous at heart.
Getting around
Public transport around George Town is primarily by bus, operated by the Rapid Penang. Taking a trishaw is a real sightseeing treat and an efficient form of transportation around the city. The Penang International Airport is located 16 kilometres south of George Town.
